Claritas Psychology

Step into calm and clarity.

Thoughtful therapy and psychological evaluation for those seeking clarity, depth, and meaningful change.

Claritas Psychology

Claritas Psychology is a psychotherapy and psychological assessment practice in New York City. The name Claritas reflects the idea of clarity- not necessarily having all the answers, but developing a clearer understanding of yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that shape how you move through the world.

We work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, developmental, and life concerns. These may include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, stress, perfectionism, burnout, ADHD and executive functioning difficulties, and questions related to identity and self-understanding.

Our goal is to create a thoughtful and collaborative space where you can better understand what is happening beneath the surface, build on your existing strengths, and find ways of moving forward that feel more authentic and sustainable.

Our Approach

We approach therapy with the belief that there is no single way of working that fits everyone. Each person comes with a different history, temperament, culture, set of relationships, and way of making sense of the world. Therapy should reflect that complexity. Our work is therefore integrative, relational, and individualized.

At times, we may focus on practical strategies for navigating difficult thoughts, emotions, or patterns. At other times, we may slow down and become curious about where those patterns came from, what purpose they may have served, and what they reveal about your needs, relationships, and ways of understanding yourself. We see both as important: finding ways to feel and function better in the present while also developing the insight and deeper understanding that can support more meaningful and sustained change. Over time, that deeper understanding can provide a foundation for lasting change in how you relate to yourself, your relationships, and the choices you make.

We also draw on mindfulness and self-compassion to cultivate greater awareness, curiosity, and less judgment toward our inner experiences. Rather than focusing only on getting rid of difficult feelings, therapy can help us understand what they may be communicating and develop a different relationship with them. This can create more flexibility in how we respond to ourselves, our relationships and the situations we encounter.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Dr. SangHee “Sophie” Park, a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Claritas Psychology.

I have long been interested in what shapes people—how our relationships, families, cultures, environments, and life experiences influence the way we understand ourselves and relate to others. My path to advanced training in psychology was not entirely linear. In an earlier chapter of my career, I worked in international banking and lived and worked across different cultural settings. Those experiences continue to shape how I think about identity, adaptation, achievement, relationships, and the many ways people learn to navigate different roles and expectations.

My clinical background includes psychotherapy as well as extensive training in psychological and educational assessment. I have also worked in school settings, which has given me the opportunity to understand children and adolescents not only through an individual lens, but within the broader context of their learning, development, families, relationships, and environments.

Working across therapy, assessment, and educational settings has shaped the way I approach clinical work more broadly. I am interested not simply in symptoms, but in understanding the whole person—their history, strengths, patterns, relationships, and the contexts in which difficulties arise. This perspective also informs my work with adults who may be seeking a deeper understanding of longstanding patterns, or questions about how they experience themselves and the world around them.

As a therapist, I tend to be thoughtful, engaged, and curious. I see therapy as a collaborative process rather than something that is done to you. I may help you slow down and notice patterns that are difficult to see from inside them, explore a different perspective, or introduce practical tools when they are useful. I aim to find a balance between creating space for your own understanding and perspective to emerge and providing structure, guidance, or direction when it may be helpful.
